Inside 4482: Meet the Team is an ongoing project where we take you behind the scenes of 4482 through short interviews with the people who make it all happen. Introduce yourself and tell us the story of how you joined the 4482 team.

Hello!

My name is Sueann and I am so proud to call myself a working member of the 4482 [SASAPARI] team :)

4482 to me, was and continues to be, a unique creative outlet that keeps me rooted in creativity and Korean art in the UK. I joined the team in January 2025 soon after finishing my masters in Museums and Galleries in Education. I remember the expectant excitement I had, looking forward to all the hands-on ways I could explore connecting people through art - something I had been studying mostly in a theoretical way.

What is the most memorable exhibition or event you’ve been a part of at 4482?

The most memorable 4482 event for me has to be the adult art workshop led by artist Yeonjoo Cho for Eeumsae (a Korean traditional drum group). While being my first ever project that I programmed, the group Eeumsae was also a very meaningful audience to work with as my mother is one of the performing members. The biggest motivation was to create a meaningful art experience for women in their 40s, 50s and 60s who might not usually get the chance to reconnect with their inner creativity - to which Yeonjoo Cho did a fantastic job facilitating!

What do you love most about being a member of the 4482 team?

I love that our existence itself is a testament to our passion and dedication to art and connecting stories through art. You would have to deeply love and care for what we do to be able to work for 4482 as a voluntary member on top of our day to day occupations - something I have deep respect towards our director Sujin as she leads our team so professionally and effectively. I love the continuous learning and being allowed the space to experiment with the support of my team and of course our artists. Thank you! Yes, you!

Where is your ‘soul gallery’ in London?

Where do you go to recharge your artistic energy?

My soul gallery in London was the Norwegian landscape exhibition held at Dulwich Picture Gallery in 2019 which sadly was not a permanent collection…! I’m still on the search to find a permanent soul gallery in London, but for the moment, my soul gallery is Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge. I love the immersive, lack-of-labels, nosy wander around Tate curator Jim Ede’s private collection in his cottage, which he donated (the cottage itself) to Cambridge university to open up to the public.

What's the most unexpected or touching feedback you've ever received from visitor?

My 14-year-old boy cousin writing “everything” to the question, “what was most enjoyable from this art workshop?” for Hyunah Koh’s Late Summer Pond collective workshop reflection card!
