Gachi: Surroundings and Companions

We live in a world of high-speed digital consumption, where our surroundings are often filtered through screens and fleeting moments. In this "fast-paced" reality, the physical textures of our environment are easily overlooked. For many of us—especially those who have moved across borders and cultures—finding "anchors" in a new land is an act of both memory and survival.

4482 invites artists to contribute to "Gachi(가치/같이): Surroundings and Companions", a series of three curated exhibitions held in a local cafe space. We are looking for works that reclaim the "slow gaze," capturing the overlooked beauty of our surroundings and the deep-rooted memories we carry with us. We want to turn the cafe into a communal archive of stories told through landscapes, botanicals, and companionship.

Theme

* Surroundings: The landscapes that define our world—from the structured geometry of the city to the organic flow of nature.

* Companions: The steadfast bonds we carry with us—family, friends, pets, and plants—that provide emotional stability through every transition.  

Eligibility

We welcome applications from emerging Korean artists (of any age) who:

• Are currently based in the UK

• Work in any medium: painting, sculpture, textile, illustration, design and photography

What you get

• A chance to exhibit your work in a unique, non-traditional space

• Possibility to sell your artwork directly through the café (subject to a 30% commission by 4482 SASAPARI)

• Opportunity to lead an Artist Talk or Workshop

• Join a community-based art initiative with artist features and promotion via 4482’s platform

• Become part of a network of Korean creatives in the UK

How to apply

You may submit up to 5 artworks for consideration. (min. 3 artworks)

Please submit the Google application form. 

Your submission should include:

• Completed Google Application Form

• Artist CV / Artist bio (max 500 words)

• Portfolio or Instagram/website link

• For each artwork: title, size, medium, and price

  *Note: Artwork larger than W:210cm × H:180cm will not be accepted
