š¤ Meet Sujin Shin, Director of 4482.
Sujin first connected with the project in 2007 and later relaunched and rebranded 4482 in 2017, with the belief that there should be a space supporting Korean artists working in international contexts.
What matters most to Sujin is working together ā building 4482 as a collective shaped by shared commitment, mutual support, and care.

šš»[Surroundings and Companions]
We live in a fast-paced, screen-driven world where our surroundings are easily overlooked. For many of us ā especially those living across borders ā finding anchors in a new place becomes an act of memory and survival. In 2026, 4482 explores the environments and companions that quietly shape who we are and how a place begins to feel like home.
As a project of this year, we are launching an Artist Open Call.

Gachi: Surroundings and Companions
Gachi means both value(ź°ģ¹) and together(ź°ģ“) in Korean. This exhibition series takes place in a local cafĆ©, inviting artists to reclaim a slow gaze and reflect on Surroundings (landscapes, cityscapes) and Companions (human, animal, or botanical bonds).

āDurĆ©e Pureā ā or pure duration ā takes its cue from Henri Bergsonās notion of time as lived experience rather than mechanical measurement.
Each artist explores this fluidity of time through a deeply subjective lens: time melting, pausing, dripping, being held, and circling back again.
Through materials like metal, canvas, wood, wax, makeup, and pigment, the artists reveal how time resides within matter ā what has already passed and what remains.
