Chaeeun Kim
Chaeeun Kim (김채은) is a South Korean ceramic artist and designer based in the UK. She holds an MA in Design from Central Saint Martins (2024). Her practice explores the physical possibilities of clay through casting and material experimentation, often merging ceramic and textile languages.
She treats mould lines as visual blueprints rather than flaws, revealing structural frameworks and the labour embedded in each form. Her recent Collection addresses environmental concerns, including water inequality and the ecological impact of textile dyeing, creating sculptural vessels that examine resilience and the layered meanings carried by domestic objects.

Han-teul (한틀) is a series of frame-shaped wall-vases designed to honor a single flower. The title combines han (韓)—referring to a frame imbued with care—and teul (frame), representing an object that holds and celebrates nature. Just as a picture frame preserves a cherished memory, each piece is intended to capture the essence of a flower and its lingering fragrance. By framing a single, precious bloom, the work quietly holds a moment in time, connecting personal experience with a shared sense of presence.

Han-ko (한코) is a series that explores the shifting and evolving nature of form over time. The title refers to a single "stitch" in Korean, linking the work to the meticulous language of needlework and architectural blueprints. In this series, deformation is treated as an integral element; the stitched lines evoke the language of the body, embedding traces of time, process, and craftsmanship within each piece. These subtle shifts in presence reflect a quiet meditation on the connection between individuality and the power of being together.

Memory captures fleeting moments and personal memories, preserving them in a form that resists time and decay. Traveling through different regions, Chaeeun Kim recorded ephemeral scenes in photographs, later translating these impressions into ceramic forms. Though fragile by nature, the work becomes a vessel that embodies memory and presence, creating a quiet space where personal experiences subtly connect with others. This project emerged from a deeply personal desire to hold onto moments that might otherwise fade, inviting viewers to reflect on how memories and shared presence contribute to the value of being together.
